Training that works!

What they are

Apprenticeships combine classroom instruction with on-the-job training, providing apprentices with a steady income, industry-driven skills, and in many cases, free tuition. And employers with a stronger, more diverse workforce.

Apprentices must be sponsored by a company, which provides training at its facility. To become registered, apprenticeships must meet the guidelines established by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL).

The college serves as an educational partner in the development and coordination of registered apprenticeships, providing the coursework that complements the on-the-job training and serving as an ongoing resource for students, apprentices and employers.

Benefits for students

While an apprenticeship offers you the most direct path into a highly skilled field, where job opportunities often outnumber qualified candidates, there are other benefits to consider as well.

Apprenticeships provide:

  • Work-based experience
  • Steady income
  • College credits
  • Mentoring
  • Recognized credential
  • Competitive advantage in job market
  • Job security and satisfaction

Pre-apprenticeship training is also available to build up your foundational skills and ensure your success once you’re sponsored by a company.

Benefits for employers

An apprenticeship is an investment in your workforce, with much for you and your company to gain in return.

Apprenticeships provide:

  • Customized training
  • Dependable talent pipeline
  • Tax credits/federal funds to offset costs (when applicable)
  • Skill-gap solutions
  • Reduced employee recruitment/hiring costs
  • Committed and loyal workforce
  • Increased workplace productivity
  • Higher job satisfaction and retention of employees (according to the U.S. Department of Labor, 93% of apprentices stay with the company that sponsored them)
Pre-apprenticeship training is also available to build up the foundational skills of your apprenticeship candidates and ensure their success.
